Those interested in the style, content, expressive qualities and intention of the piece “Passion,” are welcome to make inquiries or add thoughts here. This work is part of the series Shrines and Altars 2008 described on my artist statement page. However this image was an especially challenging one for me to make. I hesitated to include a crucifix fearing a one-dimensional response. However with the intense magentas, the motion and the diaphanous overlays I feel that I have been able to balance the content into a high energy image that has explosive properties with symbolic references. In many of the pieces in this series I contrast between the top and the bottom of the image in terms of content, mood and other associations.

Any inquiries or questions on other pieces or earlier work is welcome.

Eric B.
