This work is part of the series Shrines and Altars 2008 described on my artist statement page. However this image was an especially challenging one for me to make. I hesitated to include a crucifix fearing a one-dimensional response. However with the intense magentas, the motion and the diaphanous overlays I feel that I have been able to balance the content into a high energy image that has explosive properties with symbolic references. In many of the pieces in this series I contrast between the top and the bottom of the image in terms of content, mood and other associations.<br/><br/>Any inquiries or questions on other pieces or earlier work is welcome.<br/><br/>Eric B.
